FAQs on insurance buying
Can I buy directly from an insurer?
Yes. However, it’s in your interest to check on the Covered California website to see if you can obtain any financial assistance from the federal government and reduce the cost of your policy.
What happens if I don't purchase health insurance?
You will pay a penalty with your annual taxes if you cannot prove you have coverage. In addition, you will be required to purchase coverage for the next year.
Why work with an Insurance Broker?
A licensed broker tailors programs to fit your individual or business needs, re-rates carriers for appropriateness at every renewal, and lets you, the client, choose among the best options for the plan that’s right for you.
I’m over 65. How can you help?
We can assist in MediCare sign-ups, help you compare supplements from the different carriers, find out if your doctors are covered in the available plans, and we will show you how you can save the most money.
Are my doctors in network?
We will help you contact your doctor’s office and find out which insurance providers have your doctor in network.
I missed open enrollment. Am I stuck for the rest of the year?
It depends. You may sign up after the enrollment cutoff (February 15, 2015 for the 2015 calendar year) if you have had a life change circumstance. For example, you may have moved, lost or changed jobs, become married or divorced your spouse, or otherwise have had a significant income change for the year. Call us to see if we can help you apply for coverage post-enrollment.
